I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives

Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.
People closest to me know I started working for Autism Initiatives in December, it’s been full of challenges but I’ve learnt so much and I’m genuinely loving it. I work alongside amazing support workers and service users/people supported. It’s heartbreaking to see individuals with autism struggle day to day but massively rewarding when you see them overcoming obstacles or achieving their own goals.
I'll be walking 10,000 steps a day from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money for this fantastic charity. Please sponsor me.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊

Back story

Saturday 7th Mar

My own journey in all this started when I was working as a TA with additional needs children for 6 years which included autistic children ranging from 5-16 years old, as you can imagine it wasn’t the easiest job to do but extremely rewarding. I stopped working with children as it was too emotional for me and I constantly worried about what would happen to them later on in life. A former colleague recommended I look into Autism Initiatives as I knew I still had a lot to give to others, and as they say ‘the rest is history’ I have now been a support worker for 4 months and I am absolutely loving it!
It’s been full of challenges however I work with amazing support workers and service users/people supported. It’s heartbreaking to see individuals with autism struggle day to day but massively rewarding when you see them overcoming obstacles or achieving their personal goals.
I feel very passionate about my new career and very fortunate to be in the place I am, so if I can raise even a little bit of money for this incredible organisation than i will….thanks for reading xxx
