I'm walking 8000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives

“Eight days of walking cannot compare to a lifetime of loving, supporting, and fighting for a child in a world that doesn’t always understand him.”

I’m taking on this fundraising walk for autism for a reason that is deeply personal to me. 💙

I’m doing it for my little boy.

My son Gavin is six years old, and he is autistic.

Before autism became part of our everyday language at home, I’ll be honest — I didn’t fully understand it. I don’t think most people do until it touches their lives directly. Autism isn’t something you can sum up in a sentence or recognise from the outside. It is complex, unique, and different for every child. What I’ve learned is this:

Autism doesn’t mean less.

It simply means different.

Gavin sees the world in his own way. He feels things deeply, processes experiences differently, and communicates in ways that don’t always fit neatly into what society expects.

There are days full of joy, laughter, and immense pride.

There are days that are hard — really hard. 🫡

Days of frustration and overwhelm.

Days filled with worry about the future.

Days spent fighting battles most people never see.

As a parent, you want to protect your child from everything. But the truth is, the world isn’t always built with autistic children in mind. Simple things — school environments, social situations, noise, and changes in routine — can be overwhelming.

That’s where support, understanding, and awareness make all the difference.

This charity is incredibly close to my heart because it supports autistic children and their families — families like ours. It provides resources, guidance, advocacy, and reassurance that you are not alone. When you’re navigating appointments, diagnoses, waiting lists, and everyday challenges, knowing there is somewhere to turn means more than words can say.

I am doing this walk to raise awareness as much as funds.

Autism does not need to be “fixed.”

Autistic children do not need to be changed.

What they need is acceptance, patience, and a world willing to meet them halfway. They need properly funded services, supported schools, and communities that are educated and compassionate.

Every step I take on this walk is for Gavin — for his future, his happiness, and his right to be understood. It’s for every parent lying awake at night worrying about what comes next. It’s for every autistic child who deserves to be celebrated for exactly who they are.

If you choose to support this fundraiser, please know you are not just donating money.

You are helping create understanding.

You are helping families feel seen.

You are helping autistic children access the support they deserve.

This walk may last only eight days, but the cause lasts a lifetime.

Autism is part of our journey, our family, and our hearts — and that is why this means so much to me.

Thank you for reading, for supporting, and for walking alongside me in spirit 💙

Activity Tracker

Saturday 7th Mar
Hi guys for those of you who are messaging to say the activity tracker does not show my steps. That’s correct because it has not yet been activated. The challenge is set to take place from 26th April to 2nd April. That is when the challenge should be taking place. However because I’m out the country that week, I have done mine early.
The activity tracker will activate on 26/4/26. I will then fill in my steps which I have done below. 👇 hope that’s more clearer. Thank you all 💙

Day 8 completed. I did it! 💙 After 8 days of walking for my Autism Challenge, I’m incredibly proud to say that I’ve completed it and together we’ve raised an amazing £1,020! This challenge has taken a lot of determination, effort and perseverance, but knowing the reason behind it kept me going every single step of the way. There were definitely moments where it was tough, but your support, encouragement and donations made such a huge difference and gave me the motivation to keep pushing forward. I want to say a massive thank you to every single person who donated, shared my posts, or sent words of encouragement. Your kindness and generosity mean more than I can put into words. Because of you, we’ve been able to raise an incredible amount for such an important cause. Completing this challenge has shown me what can be achieved with hard work, determination and the support of an amazing community around you. I’m so grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much. 💙

Super proud of myself….. legs are aching now and lower back is hurting, I’m half way through the challenge but that will not break me. Target of 1k

Monday 2nd Mar

TARGET UPDATED 🎯❤️

When I first set this up, my goal was £500.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect.

But thanks to all of you, we’ve already raised £700, which is just unbelievable. I’m so grateful for every single donation and message of support.

Because of that, I’ve decided to raise the target to £1,000.

I’m currently on day 4 of my 8-day charity walk, and even though my legs are definitely feeling it 😅, knowing what we’ve already achieved is keeping me going.

If you’ve been thinking about donating, or said you’d donate once I’ve finished, now would be an amazing time to help push this over the line. Even £5 or £10 makes a real difference.

Let’s see if we can smash £1K before the end of the walk 💪 which is on Saturday 7th march.

Thank you all so much for the support it genuinely means everything ❤️

Day 3.

Monday 2nd Mar
Hey guys. As you all know I have brought my walk forward and doing it this week as I’m on holiday the week, it is supposed to be done. I’m super proud of myself for a girl who has never seen 5am , she was up and out at 5am.. managing to complete 10k steps by 6.40am. A car girl, A girl who does not walk anywhere. This has been a great start, we’re on day 3. 5 more days of pure determination to go.

Day 2. (10051k steps )

Sunday 1st Mar
10,000 steps done in just under 2 hours… just me, my thoughts, and pure determination 🚶‍♀️✨ The legs are definitely feeling it today, but I walked every single step with purpose. I kept thinking about the families this challenge could help and the difference this support can make. That thought alone carried me forward. This isn’t just about hitting 10K steps. It’s about showing up, staying committed, and doing something meaningful. Every step feels bigger than me — and that makes it worth it 💛 I’m so grateful to everyone who has sponsored me so far. Your support truly means more than you probably realise. It’s not just a donation — it’s encouragement, motivation, and impact. If you’d like to sponsor me and be part of this journey, I’d be incredibly thankful. Let’s keep making a difference together. Day 3… we go again 💪✨
