I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism

I'll be walking 10,000 steps a day from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money for this fantastic charity.

Autism is very close to my heart I became a mum at the age of 22, me and my son and a whole new world, when at the age of 18 months old I seen signs of autism and contacted the Health Visitor who said the typical I’m a young mum , it’s not autism. However 1 year later diagnosis of severe autism, social communication disorder, language disorder and sleep disorder.

At this stage I was a mum of 2 and pregnant with my third. Xander didn’t sleep, I was navigating this new life and wanting to make sure I did my absolute best to give him the best and understand his way, and give him all the support he needs. Fighting authorities for an EHCP as my son was due to start school , but was still non verbal and required so much than standard duty of care.

Then my second son started showing signs, I am 8 years down the line still fighting for my son because Covid prolonged everything and he was compared to his brother.
Life isn’t easy being a parent but it’s so much more harder being a SEN parent everything is a fight, places aren’t inclusive for our kids, people don’t understand how their minds work. How physical touch can cause pain.

3 years ago I had another child a baby girl… and come 18months the signs were there for sensory processing and the other she is getting it’s showing it’s not just SPD and it could be autism. Routines, things can’t change for example even having a courtesy car when the car is in the garage is a huge deal for her.

Another fight for her starts , while I’m still fighting for my youngest son and while I fight again now for my eldest who’s started senior school.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊 because mammas like me we need help and support because it’s lonely, we fight authorities constantly, paperwork comes in booklets , the evidence we have to gather for every little thing we do different when I have 3 is mind blowing as all 3 have totally different needs , triggers and coping strategies, some days are so tough we have a little cry which no one will know about because we’re overstimulated too, we have days where we feel we haven’t done enough, we’re not doing enough. Our minds just never shut off just like our little ones
