Walking for Emily 💙
Saturday 24th JanWhy I’m taking on 10,000 steps a day for autism
This March, I’m lacing up my trainers for a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart: my daughter, Emily 💙
Emily is bright, funny, determined, and full of imagination. She also experiences the world differently. Everyday things many of us take for granted—noise, transitions, busy environments, changes in routine—can be overwhelming for her. As her mum, I see every single day how much effort it takes for her to navigate a world that isn’t always built with autistic children in mind.
But I also see her strength. Her resilience. Her huge heart. And her potential.
That’s why I’m proud to be taking part in Walk for Autism, a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group.
The challenge 🚶♀️
From 26th March to 2nd April, I’ll be walking 10,000 steps every single day—that’s 80,000 steps in 8 days—to raise money for this incredible charity.
Autism Initiatives Group works towards a world where:
- every autistic person has the support they need to thrive
- every individual has the opportunity to fulfil their potential
- autistic people can live within supportive, inclusive communities
These values mean everything to me as a parent of an autistic child.
Why this matters to me
Supporting an autistic child often means constant advocacy—meetings, reports, assessments, and ensuring the right support is in place. It can be exhausting and emotional, but it is also driven by love.
Charities like Autism Initiatives make a real difference. They support autistic people and families like ours, helping to build understanding, acceptance, and opportunity.
Every step I take during this challenge is for Emily, and for every autistic person who deserves to be understood, supported, and included.
How you can help 🤍
I would be so grateful if you could sponsor me.
Any donation, big or small, is hugely appreciated.
