Such an amazing cause

Saturday 28th Feb
This month, I’m walking 10,000 steps a day for autism awareness and support.
Not just because I work in SEND.
Not just because I believe in inclusive education.
But because this journey is personal.
As many of you know, I work in a Special Educational Needs college, supporting incredible young people to find their voice, independence and confidence. Every day I see the power of the right support. I see how understanding, patience and tailored education can completely change a young person’s future.
But when autism isn’t understood… when support is delayed… when families are left waiting… it can feel isolating and overwhelming.
Right now, my own children are waiting for autism assessments.
And if I’m honest, this waiting period is one of the hardest parts.
At work, I advocate for students every single day. I fight for adjustments, support plans, dignity and opportunity. I understand the systems. I know the language.
But at home, I’m just mum.
And sometimes that feels heavy.
I see the sensory struggles.
The anxiety.
The sleep difficulties.
The beautiful, brilliant, busy minds that just won’t switch off.
I also see their strengths — their empathy, their imagination, their intensity, their uniqueness.
Autism isn’t something to ā€œfixā€.
It’s something to understand, support and celebrate.
That’s why I’m doing 10,000 steps.
Because awareness matters.
Because early support matters.
Because families shouldn’t feel alone while they wait.
Because funding research, services and advocacy makes a real difference.
Every step I take is for:
The students I teach who deserve opportunity.
The families navigating long assessment lists.
The children who just need the world to understand them better.
And my own two amazing little humans.
If you can donate, even a small amount, I would be so grateful.
If you can’t donate, sharing this page means just as much.
And if you’re a parent in the waiting stage too — I see you. You’re doing better than you think.
Thank you for supporting something so close to my heart šŸ’™
