The reason behind this mission
Thursday 26th FebFor the next eight days, Iām walking 10,000 steps a day.
Thatās 80,000 steps in total.
Iām not doing it for fitness. Iām not doing it for a medal.
Iām doing it for my son, Eli.
Eli is autistic and has ADHD. He experiences the world in a beautifully unique, intense, creative, and sometimes overwhelming way. Being his parent has taught me more about patience, resilience, advocacy, and unconditional love than anything else ever could.
But it has also shown me just how much more awareness, understanding, and support is needed.
Why This Is Personal
Autism and ADHD are often misunderstood. What people might see as āchallenging behaviourā is often sensory overload. What looks like distraction can be a brain working at lightning speed. What feels ordinary to others can feel overwhelming to Eli.
Behind every diagnosis is a child trying to navigate a world that isnāt always designed with them in mind. There are appointments. Waiting lists. School meetings. Advocacy conversations. Emotional highs and lows. Constant learning. Constant adapting. And yet, there is also joy. Incredible humour. Deep passion. Fierce love. A perspective on the world that is refreshingly honest and beautifully different.
Eli is not defined by his diagnoses Ā but they are part of his journey. And they shape ours as a family too.
Why 10,000 Steps?
Because some days parenting a neurodivergent child feels like a marathon.
Some days are smooth and full of wins. Some days are exhausting and emotionally heavy,Most days are a mixture of both.
Walking 10,000 steps a day is my way of symbolising that journey Ā steady, consistent, one step at a time.
It represents the steps Eli takes every day in a world that can feel overwhelming. It represents the steps we take as parents to advocate for him.And it represents the steps we can all take toward greater understanding and acceptance.
What Iām Raising Funds For
The money raised will go toward supporting autism awareness and practical resources for families who need them Ā helping create more inclusive spaces, better access to support, and stronger community understanding.Because no family should feel alone in this journey.
How You Can Support
If Eliās story touches you, Iād love your support.
You can:
- Donate whatever youāre able to
- Take time to learn more about autism and ADHD
- Show patience and kindness to families navigating similar journeys
Every share, every pound, every conversation mattersĀ
For Eli
Eli, you are brave, funny, clever, determined, and wonderfully you.
These 80,000 steps are for you Ā and for every child like you who deserves a world that understands and celebrates them.
Letās take these steps together š

Good luck xx
