Walking for Jude

Thursday 26th Mar

Over the last five years, my son Jude has taught me more than I ever thought possible, without saying a single word.

Jude is non-verbal, but he has shown me that communication goes far beyond speech. It’s in the way he looks at me, the way he holds my hand, the way he experiences the world so deeply and honestly. Through him, I’ve learned patience, resilience, and a completely different understanding of what connection really means.

There have been challenges, of course. Days that feel overwhelming, moments of uncertainty, and times where the world doesn’t feel built for children like Jude. But alongside that, there is so much strength, so much love, and so many victories, even in the smallest steps forward.

This walk is for Jude. It’s for raising awareness, for acceptance, and for celebrating children like him who see the world in their own unique and beautiful way. It’s also for every parent, carer, and family navigating this journey, often quietly, but with incredible strength.

Jude may not use words, but he has given me a voice, a purpose, and a perspective I will carry for the rest of my life.

So I walk for him — for understanding, for inclusion, and for a world that embraces every child  as they are.
