Walking for Autism – Every Step Matters

This year, I’m taking part in Walk for Autism, and I’ve set myself a challenge: 10,000 steps a day for 8 days. My goal is to raise £500 or more to support autistic people and their families — a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.

I’m lucky enough to work with autistic children every day, and they have shaped the way I see the world in ways I never expected. They remind me to slow down, to notice the little things, and to appreciate different ways of thinking and communicating. Every child I work with brings something unique, and they brighten my days more than they probably realise.

They have taught me patience, understanding, and a new perspective on what connection really means. Because of them, this walk isn’t just a fundraising challenge — it’s something deeply personal.

Why This Means So Much to Me

The autistic children I work with inspire me constantly. They are creative, thoughtful, funny, determined, and full of personality. Spending time with them has changed my outlook on life and helped me understand the importance of acceptance and support.

One of the biggest reasons I’m doing this walk is because I want the children I work with to know something important:

I see you. I hear you. And you matter.

Every child deserves to feel understood and valued for who they are. By taking part in Walk for Autism, I hope to play a small part in helping create a world where autistic children and adults are accepted, supported, and celebrated.

Walking for The Challenge

My challenge is to walk at least 10,000 steps every day for 8 days, raising £500 or more along the way.

It might sound simple, but every step represents support, awareness, and encouragement for autistic individuals and their families.
