I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives

My son was born at the very start of October 2020, Covid was big and the pregnancy, birth and start of his life were super stressful. When Oliver was just a few months old I’d start noticing a bigger attachment to sensory stimulation than my eldest. Although I noticed it I didn’t think too much of it until Oliver was coming up to a year old. Repetition was big, development was low and from there we started his journey. His autism unfolded over the years and although his development was slower than it should have been his determination was huge! Oliver learnt to walk at 2 and a half, started saying words at 3 and now as a 5 year old is coming on leaps and bounds with his speech and his learning! He got his diagnosis of autism in July 2025. Days can still be hard but my boy is a wonder and an inspiration and perfect exactly as he is. He wouldn’t be Oliver without his autism! I’m walking to celebrate my boy!

Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

I'll be walking 10,000 steps a day from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money for this fantastic charity. Please sponsor me.
