Hi, my name is Lily and I’m 14. 💙

Two years ago my life became really difficult.

I’m autistic, and over time I began to struggle with even the most basic everyday things. I couldn’t leave the house, I found it hard to communicate even with my own family, and I slowly lost all of my friends. Things that most people don’t even have to think about, talking to people, going outside, being around others, felt overwhelming for me.

I had to be home schooled because I just couldn’t cope with being in the world around me.

Over the last year I’ve worked incredibly hard with my mum & lots of therapy, to rebuild my confidence. I’ve had to relearn basic social skills, practice communicating again, and slowly face situations that once felt impossible.

I’m now back in mainstream school, which is something we once didn’t think would be possible. It’s still challenging and I have to face those challenges every day, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

Now I’m doing something that a year ago I never thought I would be able to do.

I’m taking part in the Walk for Autism Challenge, where I will walk 10,000 steps a day for 8 days to raise £250 for autism awareness.

For many people this might sound like a simple challenge.

But for me, every step means leaving the house, being around people, and continuing to build the confidence I’ve worked so hard for.

This challenge isn’t just about raising money, it’s about showing how far I’ve come, and helping raise awareness of the challenges autistic young people can face.
