Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

From an early age, I noticed something wonderfully unique about my daughter, Elsieā€”her brain processes the world in a way thatā€™s different, and truly remarkable. Over the years, Iā€™ve faced misunderstanding and stigma from people who donā€™t realize that Autism is not about ā€œbad parentingā€ or ā€œseeking attention,ā€ and that it canā€™t simply be ā€œfixedā€ by being firm.


Elsie experiences the world differently: she interprets what she hears literally, needs sensory reassurance, and navigates emotions in her own way. Yet every day, she wakes up ready to take on the world.


I walk to support Elsie, and all the children who have been diagnosed, those waiting for diagnoses, and those who mask their differences. I walk to celebrate neurodiversity, to raise awareness, and to show that every child deserves understanding, support, and a community that embraces them just as they are.Ā
