I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives

As many of you know, my Daughter Amelia has recently had an autism diagnosis after years of struggles and waiting times. We have had a hell of a time getting to where we are and appreciate all the help we have had and continue to have. Autism is still not understood by many and even a little  money raised can make a difference to help child and adults with autism be the very best they can be in a world that is more accepting of their challenges.

Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

I'll be walking 10,000 steps a day from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money for this fantastic charity. Please sponsor me.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊

Why I am doing this…

Sunday 15th Feb
As many of you know, my daughter Amelia has recently had an autism diagnosis after years of struggles and waiting times. We have had a hell of a time getting to where we are and appreciate all the help we have had and continue to have.

Although I am doing this for Amelia, she is not the only one. I have friends who are Autistic and have kids who are too. Girls have it so much harder too, they mask so much more than boys and often get missed or labeled as the shy kid just like Amelia did for years. Schools and other organisations need to have better training in recognising the signs especially in girls. If Amelia had been picked up earlier maybe she would be in school right now instead of struggling every day with the impact her autism has. Maybe she would be able to socialise better and understand who she is better if it was picked up in primary school earlier on. Instead she is 14 year old girl who can’t do typical teenage stuff because she doesn’t know how to cope in a world that doesn’t understand her. So if a raising a little money can help towards a better understanding then hell yeah I’m going to raise as much as I can for all the girls out there struggling!
