Why I’m Taking Part in the Autism Walk

Monday 26th Jan

This March, I’m taking part in a Walk for Autism fundraiser for a cause that is very close to my heart.

I am a newly qualified teacher and have been in my role for just five months, working with children with a wide range of special educational needs. In such a short time, this job has already had a huge impact on me. The children I work with inspire me every day and continue to shape the teacher I am becoming.

Working in special education is one of the most rewarding roles I could ever imagine. My students teach me patience, compassion, and the importance of celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small. They influence my teaching practice and who I am as a person on a daily basis.

While I work with children with many different needs, this walk specifically supports autism awareness and acceptance. It is my way of giving back to a community that means so much to me and of supporting inclusion, understanding, and opportunity for all

Every step I take is for the incredible children I work with and for a future where all learners are valued, supported, and celebrated.
