Walking for my little time traveler - Jack !

Monday 23rd Feb

Autism has been part of my world for as long as I can remember, so charities like this has always been close to my heart (cringe I know).

Autism is often misunderstood, mainly because it’s such a wide spectrum. But what people sometimes miss is that it also comes with some of the most funny, kind, unique and brilliant humans you’ll ever meet.Like my brother, Jack.

Jack is a die hard doctor who fan and yes, he will test you in your knowledge. He might find some emotions confusing, but he never seems to struggle with loving people, Jack has the biggest heart and just an all round beautiful soul. He’ll kiss your hand, call you beautiful or handsome and ā€œsqueeeeeeezeā€ you in the biggest cuddle that’ll cracks you like a glow stick. If you ever fall asleep around him you best believe you’ll wake up with every duvet and blanket he owns on top of you to make sure you’re comfortable even if you’re sweating like a marathon runner in summer.Ā

Jack was lucky to be diagnosed early and to have support from the system living in supported living, but that doesn’t mean life has been easy. He’s faced challenges that would be tough for anyone, yet he handles them with a strength and resilience that amazes me every single day.

Some days are big. Big feelings, big emotions, sometimes big meltdowns and they can be scary, even as his sister. But no matter how the day goes, it always ends with a sorry and I love you. Honestly, I wouldn’t change him for the world.

That’s why I’m doing this walk for Jack, and for every other beautiful person like him. To help spread awareness, understanding, and support for people with autism who are just out here trying to live their best lives.

If I can raise a little awareness, a little support, or even just make someone smile while reading this then it’s all worth it.
