Why I’m walking for autism ❤️
Saturday 31st JanI’m walking for autism because it’s not just a cause to me — it’s my everyday life, my heart, and my son.
My son is 8 years old, and he is autistic. He is bright, funny, curious, and sees the world in a way that constantly teaches me to slow down, listen more carefully, and look beyond the surface. Autism is part of who he is. It shapes how he experiences the world, how he communicates, how he feels, and how he connects — and it has shaped me too, in ways I never expected.
This walk isn’t about fixing him. It’s about understanding him.
Autism comes with challenges — some visible, many invisible. There are days filled with joy and laughter, and days that are heavy with worry, exhaustion, or uncertainty. There are moments when the world feels too loud, too fast, or too unforgiving for a child who simply experiences it differently. As a parent, you learn quickly how much advocacy, patience, and strength it takes to make sure your child is seen, supported, and accepted.
I’m walking to raise awareness — because awareness leads to understanding, and understanding leads to kindness.
I’m walking to support research, resources, and services that help autistic children thrive, not just survive. Support that helps families feel less alone. Support that reminds parents like me that it’s okay to ask for help and that our children deserve every opportunity to be themselves in a world that often expects them to change.
Most of all, I’m walking for my son.
For his future.
For his confidence.
For a world that embraces his differences instead of questioning them.
Every step I take is a reminder that autism is not a limitation — it’s a different way of being. And that difference deserves respect, support, and celebration.
Thank you for supporting this walk, for listening to our story, and for helping create a more inclusive world — one step at a time.
