I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives
As some of you may know, my 6 year old son Charlie is autistic. Being a parent to an autistic child is a journey filled with love, pride, determination and, at times, battles we never expected to face. Every day we advocate for the support he is not only entitled to but truly deserves. We want to raise awareness of the challenges he faces in a world that wasn’t built with his needs in mind, and to help create a future where he can thrive.
Charlie is an affectionate, loving boy with the biggest heart. He has a huge passion for dinosaurs, books, cars and anything he can line up neatly and place in what we call “Charlie’s way.” His unique way of seeing and organising the world is one of the many things that makes him who he is bright, curious, and wonderfully himself.
That’s why I’m taking part in Walk for Autism, a fantastic fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Their work aims to create a world where every autistic person has the support they need to flourish, the opportunities to fulfil their potential, and a truly inclusive community around them.
From 26th March to 2nd April, I’ll be walking 10,000 steps every day to help raise vital funds for this incredible charity not just for Charlie, but for all autistic people and their families navigating similar challenges.
