I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives

Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

I'll be walking 10,000 steps a day from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money for this fantastic charity. Please sponsor me. It means a lot to me personally having a younger brother who has severe autism. We were told there was a chance he would never be able to communicate properly and he surprises us more and more each day, it’s the simple things like singing, laughing , stomping and bringing joy to us all.

There needs to be more funding for people with autism. The standard waiting list to get tested is around 5 years to wait in some rural areas (deeside). I’ve been on and off that list for the past few years to get tested for audhd (autism +adhd)  where moving around it had made it difficult where recently the mental health facilities last year had closed down in Aberdeen meaning people on these lists, including myself, have been removed to get tested  . Many girls especially never get the help they need . It is harder to pick up on in females and get misdiagnosed with depression or bipolar where that isn’t always the case and sometimes woman (not just woman) develop bipolar due to not getting the right help they need. There needs to be more research done!

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊

My updates

Day 5 was a huge challenge.

Monday 30th Mar
I have an infected toe!😭so I now no longer am aiming between 10-15 thousand but just ten 😢 I’m really upset with the timing as it’s unfortunate but I’m still trying regardless even though my toe is currently red as Rudolphs nose and pulsing even resting! 🥲 I’m so sorry to everyone who has supported me if I have let anyone down. ❤️
