I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives in support of our daughter Sapphire.

Most of you know, Sapphire was diagnosed with Autism in July last year. She has had many struggles but has over come so much in such a short time. No 2 days are the same for her. She is the most loving, caring, outgoing girl you could ever meet but it’s not without its challenges and meltdowns given this and the fact there isn’t enough awareness about the condition I have decided to do walk for autism. Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. This group is set out to make sure every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

I'll be walking 10,000 steps a day from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money for this fantastic charity. Please sponsor me.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊

Sapphire

Friday 13th Feb
Sapphire has had so many struggles when it comes to her autism. Mainly being told “she doesn’t look autistic”. As a mother I hear this so many times. But what people do not see is the strict routine she has to have, the frequent freakouts because there is to many people, or there’s to much noise or simply because some has flushed the toilet or put the hand dryer on. These are all daily challenges we have to make sure we prepare for before we even think of going places. Unless you are going through the same challenges you can never comprehend the emotion, physical strain and toll it has on a person who cares for a child with a disability. All this said, she is the sunshine to our rainbow, the light at the end of the tunnel and gives us the strength we need to face any challenges head on 🩷
