I'm walking 10,000 steps a day for Autism Initiatives

Hi everyone,
Walk for Autism is a fundraising challenge run by Autism Initiatives Group. Autism Initiatives Group is working towards a world where every autistic person has the support they need to thrive, every opportunity to fulfil their potential and a supportive, inclusive community to live in.

This very important to me as you all know I am under testing and my beautiful daughters have ASD,
We have had help and support from different charities so it would be nice to give back in any way I can.

I'll be walking 10,000 steps a day from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money for this fantastic charity. Please sponsor me.

Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated 😊

Walk for Autism

Monday 16th Feb
Hello 👋 Everyone.
Its Carley here 🙂

Walking for Autism were do I start on wanting to do this...

People that know me will understand why and how this is an amazing charity 🙌  to do this for.

But for people that dont know me but would like to sponsor here is my back story.

Autism is different for everyone and comes in different levels but at the end of the day Autism is Autism and is something I pride myself to try and understand not just for me but my family.

My oldest who is now 17 years old, was diagnosed with ASD aged 13 but through primary because of unfortunately lack of knowledge, support and information she went through as the shy kid.
As her mam this didnt sit well with me,
Her speech was very delayed, she was very much behind on the typical today's milestones, which i got every kid is different and will do it at there own time.. trust me i get this but this was more.
She hated crowded places, loud noises, bright colours, different textures, would only eat certain foods that were plain and always the same.
Meltdowns at certain clothes and shoes.
Didn't want to play with anyone (no interest at all)

Myself and school kicked it all off with speech and language and it went from there... 9 long years of tears, frustrating, long waiting lists, every milestone came with another difficulty but we finally got the answers we needed. ASD, honestly I had no clue what this deeply entailed and hands of heart still dont fully.
There is no medication.. my oldest is just who she is, it may take her longer, we may need some help and extra time and different techniques to get her to her goal but my god she is smashing every goal.
From being told she won't beable to sit her exams to her sitting everyone and getting amazing results, she is now thriving in college 🙂

Now I have this to go through with both her younger sisters and because I now have the knowledge I myself are under testing and trust me it would explain alot (close friends and family.. will understand this haha)

But saying all this none of this could of been achieved for her without the support we received through the years and that we are still getting.
From different charity's, school, college, family and friends.

That have seen the highs and lows, the proud moments and the tears.

It is so close to my heart.

My words to any family on this road.

You have got this, it may not be easy but my god its worth it.

Words from my 17 years old.

I am me, I think different but different is also good because I may see certain things others might not.
I am just like you, it just takes me time and support.
Thank you to everyone for the support

Thank you 💜💜💜
