Amelia's Walk
Thursday 29th JanThis year were walking for our gorgeous girl, Amelia-Rose. A beautiful daughter, little sister and bestest friend to Eva.
Every step we take through this 8 days will be to support her and all the other little superheroes out there. This superhero has overcome far to many challenges in her short space of life, it shocks and surprises us how she still shines at the end of everyday. She’s still growing and becoming accustom to some of the daily challenges she faces with the help and support we can offer her. She still and always will need a regular routine to ensure her day flows as smoothly and as comfortably as possible. We are here to fight and support, that as times passes she and all her fellow superheroes will have the support they need.
Autism isn’t something that needs to be changed or fixed, it’s something that needs to be more understood. Autism is a difference affecting how people communicate, interact, and experience the world around them. So raising awareness will help people have a better understanding about how the world is experienced and seen by the likes of Amelia on a daily basis. Amelia-Rose and many other little superheroes may need little or more support to succeed in a world designed for the needs of non-autistic people. Though it is the barriers she’ll face in society that are the issue and something that we worry about. So we need to do better and raise more awareness as best we possibly can . Autistic individuals will often exhibit bravery by navigating a world not built for them, managing sensory overloads, and facing daily social, educational, or environmental challenges. This courage is after shown through resilience against daily challenges, personal goals and often bullying, the list goes on.
So we will be joined this time by our little warrior Amelia-Rose, who surprises us daily and continues to take on the challenges the days throw at her. Between the three of us we will be walking 240,000 steps over 8 days, from 26th March to 2nd April to raise money and awareness for this amazing charity.
We will also have our two supportive doggies Simba and Wolf following the journey too.
