About us

Autism Initiatives Group is a national charity operating in the UK and Ireland.

Autism Initiatives Group was founded 50 years ago in 1972 by Pat Minshull who couldn't find the right support for her autistic son Peter. Pat fundraised tirelessly and with the help of local MP Harold Wilson she opened a school for autistic children. 50 years on and we have grown from a local charity in Liverpool, where we still have our head office, to a national charity providing specialist autism services in the UK and Ireland. We are proud to continue Pat's legacy as a brilliant fundraiser with Walk for Autism. Autism Initiatives still support Peter and he lives locally in his own home.
